Lift replacement

Classic Lifts subcontracted Premium Lifts Ltd to carry out a full lift installation at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester, a city centre hotel directly opposite Piccadilly station.

The work covered stripping out the old lift, preparing and painting the lift shafts, and installing the new lift.

The new lift at a landing with its stainless steel doors open, showing the mirrored car and a green-lit light curtain down the door edge

A firefighters lift serving 13 floors

The new lift is a 13-person, 1,000kg firefighters lift, serving every floor from level -1 up to the 11th floor. Firefighters lifts are built so the fire service can take control of them and keep using them during a fire, which is why taller buildings like this one need them.

Finished to suit the hotel

Brushed stainless steel entrances sit cleanly against the hotel's navy corridors. Inside, the car has a mirror on the rear wall, white glass side panels, a stainless handrail and LED downlights.

A full-height light curtain guards the doors, and the car panel includes an emergency telephone and a hearing loop for guests who use hearing aids.

Shafts painted, not just fitted out

Alongside the installation, we painted the lift shafts bright white. A clean, bright shaft is easier to inspect and maintain, and it keeps the installation looking cared for long after handover.
